Shell Seal - The Problem

Through our work with many different builders throughout the state it has become painfully evident that few trades recognize how to seal the building envelope.

Too often we see the waterproofing measures left to the shell, glazing, and painting contractors, none of which have the expertise or attention to details to do the job correctly.

Water, draft, and damp proofing measures are necessary throughout the construction process. These procedures need to be verified through inspections and testing (leak tests).

Window waterproofing measures The average home has over 495 critical seams, joints, or fasteners, that must be sealed during the various stages of construction.

The sealing has to be done at the correct time during construction using the correct sealant. The surfaces to be sealed have to be properly prepared to ensure proper application and adhesion.

Foundation line damp proofing measures These details are too important to be left to the shell and glazing contractors who too often are more interested in expediency rather than quality.

Additionally, the painting contractor gets involved too late in the construction process to address the critical points to be sealed.

Waterproofing is a full time job with critical points throughout the construction process.
